Our Vision and Mission Statement

Cedar Tree Foundation.

Our Chinese name is the given name of the grandfather of our principal founder.    Cedar Tree in the Chinese signifies longevity, and our Chinese name means healthy longevity.     Another meaning is in the Chinese saying  -- 十年樹木,百年樹人 -- “It takes 10 years to grow a tree, but a hundred years to nurture a righteous man”.  To metaphorically erect a man that stands tall, unbending to money or power, we must educate him, amongst other support.     

In memory of the retirement of the grandfather, from the then Nationalist government service, he was presented by his colleagues a Chinese calligraphy page, with the words -- 公正廉明 -- meaning “right and just, transparent and uncorrupted” to mark his past service.    On retirement, he had little money; the whole family of 11 moved to Hong Kong, and had to live in a resettlement hut for more than ten years.

Thus, this education Foundation will support the building up of similar people that are so sought after in this modern society; one may recall that when the old gentleman came to Hong Kong, the ICAC had not been established, but it is now one of what Hong Kong is proud of.      Thus, this is our Vision and Mission.
